Online information session: Managing Pain
Managing Pain
Pain is one of the most common symptoms of arthritis, and these Health Information sessions will help you understand the difference between acute and chronic pain. Being able to understand your pain and communicate this to family, friends, healthcare professionals and employers can make a big difference to your condition.
The sessions will introduce the concept of the pain cycle and the impact this has on your life. The talk considers possible triggers and how you can use self management skills to manage these, in particular planning and pacing so you can continue to live your life well.
By the end of the session, you'll have the opportunity to share your own goals for managing pain more effectively and create an action plan to put these strategies into practice.
Good tips to self manage joint pain, hearing from someone who has arthritis and the simple things we can do to manage pain.
There are two types of session you can join:
- a 1-hour information talk, or
- a 2-hour information session with access to peer support. You'll have the opportunity to chat and share your experiences if you feel comfortable doing so and access peer support.
