Arthritis UK Cymru is here to make sure that people with arthritis in Wales have the support and information they need to live well with their condition and to ensure that the needs of people with arthritis are a priority with policy makers in Wales. We run a number of different services for people of all ages with arthritis, ranging from activity sessions to practical support to information sessions.
Arthritis UK Cymru works across Wales so that anyone living with arthritis can get the support, education and information they need to live their life the way they choose. Whatever that looks like for you: staying in work, getting back to the garden, sleeping better, or just feeling less alone with it.
Our online information and support sessions are the easiest way to get good, trustworthy information about arthritis wherever you are in Wales. They're live and guided, so you can ask questions and hear from other people in the same boat. Sessions cover things like managing pain and fatigue, keeping moving, getting the most out of an appointment, and making decisions about treatment.
Health information can be easier to take in when it's in your own language. We're steadily building the amount of our public information available in Welsh.. As well as Information booklets, you can access our Welsh language resource area, Y Hwb on Arthritis Connect, you can ask our chatbot AVA to respond to you in Welsh and our dedicated, trained Helpline team can arrange a Welsh translator on request.
If there's something you need and can't find in Welsh, tell us. walessupport@arthritis-uk.org.
Our Community Networks meet in towns and villages across Wales, and online for anyone who can't easily travel. They're relaxed places to try gentle activity, pick up practical ideas for living with the condition day to day, and spend time with people who understand it without you having to explain. Alongside the networks we run self-management sessions, information stands at local events, and one-to-one conversations when someone needs a bit more.
Our volunteers make this work possible. There are roles across Wales for people of every age and background, whether you have arthritis yourself, care for someone who does, or simply want to give a bit of time: helping a Community Network run, welcoming people at an event, sharing information or supporting someone who's just been diagnosed to navigate their way through their arthritis journey. We'll train you and support you throughout.

Our Young People and Families service offers a range of services to support young people aged 0-25 and their families.
Arthritis is still viewed as a condition of old age, and awareness of childhood arthritis can be low. Arthritis UK knows that arthritis can affect you at any age, with at least 10,000 young people under the age of 16 living with a diagnosis of Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA) in the UK. It can be challenging to be a parent of a child with arthritis, and it can be isolating and difficult for children and teenagers to grow up with the condition.
Our Young People and Families Service work alongside the team at Noah’s Ark Hospital for Wales providing support in clinical settings from dedicated youth and family workers, one-to-one support, resources and signposting. They also run a programme of events for young people and familes both online and face to face throughout Wales and the UK that aim to reduce isolation, build confidence and empower young people.

To volunteer for an organisation is to give the invaluable gift of time and at Arthritis UK our volunteers play a vital role in raising funds and raising awareness about the pain of arthritis. We couldn't operate without them. All of our services are delivered or supported by our amazing volunteers, and there are opportunities to get involved in campaigning, fundraising, take part in events or even organise your own. Volunteering is at the very heart of Arthritis UK and it is thanks to the hard work, enthusiasm and commitment of volunteers, that we can support millions of people living with arthritis every year.
We have several volunteering opportunities available across Wales and provide all the necessary training and support that will help you feel part of our organisation and equipped to perform your role. As a volunteer, we will support you to learn new skills, meet new people and help you increase your confidence and self-esteem. Many of our volunteers live with arthritis and related conditions, which means together we can deliver a quality service, and help you to enhance your self-management skills.
Please get in touch with the Wales Office to find out more on 0800 756 3970 or walesvolunteering@arthritis-uk.org.
Arthritis UK Cymru believes that arthritis and musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions should be a national health policy priority. Approximately 991,000 people live with these conditions in Wales and the impact on individuals, their families, on communities and on our health and social care services is huge. Despite this, arthritis and MSK conditions are often overlooked and related services under-resourced.
We campaign to make change happen. To improve quality of life for people with arthritis / MSK conditions in Wales.
