Ingredients
For this recipe, you will need:
- 4-6 turkey steaks
- Half a punnet of cherry tomatoes, quartered
- Half a white onion chopped or half a cup of frozen chopped onion
- 1 tbsp tomato ketchup
- 1 tsp garlic paste
- 1 mozzarella ball
- 1 tsp ginger paste
- 6 fresh basil leaves
- 2 cups of frozen mixed peppers or raw and chopped
- 3 tsp passata or tomato pasta sauce
- 3-4 smokey bacon rashers cut into small pieces
- 2 splashes of olive oil
- Pinch of salt and pepper
Method
- Preheat the oven to 240°C (220°C fan).
- Add the oil to a frying pan and heat to medium-high.
- Add the bacon and onion, cook for 8-10 minutes.
- Add the garlic, ginger and peppers and continue to cook for 5 minutes.
- Add the chopped tomatoes, passata/sauce, ketchup and basil then turn the heat down to low and simmer for 10 minutes.
- In a separate pan, add the oil on a high heat and add the turkey steaks to cook for just 1 minute on each side. They should look brown but not cooked through, and set aside.
- On the baking tray, lay the turkey steaks out flat.
- Spoon over the vegetable mix from the first pan like a pizza topping onto each turkey steak, but with a bit more piled in the middle of each.
- Tear the mozzarella into chunks and top each pizza with cheese evenly.
- Put the pan into the hot oven for 10 minutes until the cheese is golden brown.
- Carefully remove from the oven, serve and enjoy.
