Prevention and diagnosis

Early detection and intervention with arthritis

There are a variety of risk factors that can increase people’s chances of developing arthritis, some of which are modifiable, such as obesity and physical inactivity. For people who already have arthritis, prevention is about reducing the impact on a person’s life. Early detection and intervention can play a crucial role in helping to stop or slow the development of someone’s condition.

As part of this, it is critical that people receive a timely and helpful diagnosis, so they can access the care and support they need before their symptoms get worse. However, many people with arthritis are waiting far too long to get a diagnosis and often left to struggle on their own as they await a diagnosis.
