Supporting Improvement Across MSK Services in Wales: The National MSK Network

The NHS Wales Performance and Improvement National Musculoskeletal (MSK) Network plays a key role in supporting high-quality, equitable MSK care across Wales. Bringing together clinicians, service leads, policy colleagues and people with lived experience, the Network provides a national forum to share learning, influence policy and support service improvement across the MSK pathway.

Covering a wide range of priority areas – including rheumatology, bone health, primary care, persistent pain and rehabilitation – the Network helps ensure that MSK services are aligned with national priorities and informed by the latest evidence and best practice. It also supports collaboration across health boards, helping teams learn from each other and respond to shared challenges in MSK service delivery.

A key output of the Network is its bi-monthly MSK Network newsletter, which provides regular updates on developments across working groups and policy areas. The newsletter is written for health and care professionals, people living with MSK conditions, and anyone with an interest in MSK health and improving services in Wales. It offers a concise way to stay informed about national workstreams, emerging evidence, service improvement initiatives and opportunities to get involved.

The latest edition includes updates on recently published reports from Arthritis UK, highlighting important insights relevant to MSK care and service planning:

The MSK Network newsletter also regularly shares information on upcoming training events, research developments, engagement opportunities and policy asks, helping ensure the MSK workforce remains informed, connected and supported.

If you would like to keep up to date with national MSK developments in Wales, you can subscribe to the MSK Network newsletter.

Staying connected through the Network supports collective learning and continued improvement in MSK services for the people of Wales.
