Co-codamol 30/500 supply problems

There is currently a shortage in the UK of co-codamol 30/500 tablets. These tablets contain 30 mg of codeine and 500 mg of paracetamol and are only available on prescription.

The shortage is expected to last until June. This is due to supply problems affecting the manufacturer.

This may affect your treatment. If you have difficulty getting your prescription, speak to your GP, pharmacist or healthcare team. They can explain your options and help you decide what to do next.

Alternatives you may be offered

You may be offered a different strength of co-codamol or another pain relief medicine. If your treatment needs to change, your healthcare professional will advise you how to do this safely.

If you have been taking opioid painkillers for a long time, do not stop taking them suddenly unless a healthcare professional advises you to. Stopping suddenly can cause withdrawal symptoms such as feeling sick, shaking or diarrhoea.
