My Arthritis App
What is the My Arthritis App?
Managing arthritis isn’t just about medication: it’s about understanding the condition and making daily choices that support wellbeing. My Arthritis is a free, expert-led self-management app that helps track symptoms, monitor lifestyle factors, and build long-term strategies for better health.
Developed with leading rheumatologists and focused on whole-person health, it offers:
- digital support content.
- symptom tracking, including specific joint and pain points.
- medication reminders.
- personalised insights to help manage flares, improve mobility, and enhance quality of life.
The app also follows a ‘clinician in the loop’ model, keeping doctors informed so they can spot changes early, adjust treatment if needed, and stay connected without extra appointments.
People with arthritis play a key role in shaping My Arthritis. They ensure it meets real needs. Through co-production, people and carers helped design its features, making it a truly supportive self-management tool. This reflects Arthritis UK and Ampersand Health’s commitment to putting people with arthritis at the heart of innovation.
How the My Arthritis App can be used in clinical practice
My Arthritis is clinically supported and has been developed with NHS specialists and patient advocacy groups to empower its users in managing their condition. It has been designed to complement clinical care, offering tools for symptom tracking, medication adherence, patients reported outcome measures and educational resources. It can also offer a valuable service for enhancing patient engagement and supporting remote monitoring in routine rheumatology reviews.

The history behind the Arthritis UK App and My Arthritis
In 2018, we launched the Arthritis Tracker App. It was originally an idea from Hope, one of our young people in Northern Ireland. Hope wanted to find a way to improve conversations at health appointments, using data to show what good days and bad days looked like. We developed this idea with young people and health professionals to create a symptom tracking app that was quick to update and easy to understand.
Over the following years improvements were made to increase accessibility and support better symptom tracking. All developments were suggestions from our users, and we worked with them to test functionality before it was rolled out. The App was downloaded and used across the globe with thousands of users finding the straightforward tracking and understandable data helped them to self-manage their condition.
In 2025, we partnered with Ampersand Health to bring together the strengths of both our apps. The My Arthritis app was already well established and offered reliable tools for tracking and monitoring symptoms, as well as the ability to connect with healthcare teams and support clinician oversight where available. By combining the two apps, we ensured people could benefit from the best functionality, enhanced by Arthritis UK’s trusted health information. In 2026, our co-designed body map tool was integrated into My Arthritis, ensuring that people aged 13+ could continue managing their condition with accessible, expert-backed support, and the Arthritis UK App was closed down.
