Community Appointment Days
Are Community Appointment Days (CAD) happening or being planned in your area?
As Professional Engagement Managers, we are here to help and support health and care professional teams in the development of these events and work with our colleagues to attend the event. We have excellent health information resources to support people to understand and manage their condition. We also offer services online and in person across our communities.
CADs are an event to help people discover ways to manage their musculoskeletal (MSK) condition/chronic pain in a holistic manner based on community-led support principles. Patients are able to discuss 'What matters to them' with physiotherapy staff and partner organisations, and collectively we want to support health and care professionals with this holistic approach to health and care, working together and delivering support in a community setting.
If you are planning a Community Appointment Day, please contact your Professional Engagement Manager.
Patient Voice
Our Patient Voice lived experience volunteers support health and care professionals in both training and practice to understand and empathise with what it is to have and live with a musculoskeletal (MSK) condition and/or persistent pain and ultimately improve the service they provide to patients.
“The students found the volunteers to be inspirational; this was a highlight of this module.”
Patient Voice sessions can take place online or face to face, with students and practitioners. All partnerships are codesigned with the educator, students and volunteers.
“Thank you so much for your contribution to enhancement of the student learning experience here at Ulster University.”
We can also support health and social care quality improvement projects to provide the patient perspective in co-producing potential solutions for patients living with MSK and persistent pain issues.
Team meeting presentations
We can join online meetings with your team to provide an update about the range of resources, support and services we offer for health and care professionals and patients. Depending on where you are based, we may be able to attend a face-to-face meeting.
Conference support
We can provide conference exhibition stands, highlighting the resources and support Arthritis UK has for health and care professionals and patients. We can also provide presentations about the services and support we offer as well as delivering MSK education sessions online and face to face depending on location, date and speaker availability.
We have a library of content that can be tailored to the audience, ranging from supporting your patients to reduce their use of opioids, to the role of imaging in diagnosing MSK conditions, supporting patients to live well with arthritis, paediatric MSK presentations, osteoarthritis and inflammatory arthritis, fibromyalgia, having conversations with patients about physical activity, plus many more.
Commissioned training
We have an ever-expanding menu of training sessions we can deliver for organisations, with a variety of courses for different professions, covering the diagnosis and management of various arthritis related conditions. Training sessions range from one-hour to full-day courses.
Visit the training page of our website to learn more about the training topics we offer. We can tailor content for your organisation’s needs and deliver a bespoke session for you, either face to face or online. We are constantly evolving our training offer and may have something suitable for your audience’s needs, even if it is not listed on the page. We have
delivered bespoke training for GP Trainees, GPs, FCPs and Physiotherapy teams.
Is there a specific MSK training need you’d like to discuss for you team? Please do get in touch to see how we may be able to help.
